Becoming a virtual assistant was something I considered strongly as I started exploring different opportunities to grow a flexible business from home. As the online world has grown, so has the need for assistance with tasks that can be done remotely. Sherri Moore started growing her team in 2017 and now has a thriving company providing all types of virtual assistance, including business administration, social media, and video support.

When did you start your business, and why did you create it?
I started in 2017 after having a deep desire to start something of my own. I had always had a side hustle that I would dabble in, but nothing concrete. I knew that I ultimately wanted to help people but I didn’t know exactly what that would look like. With my background in media communication, I also wanted to incorporate a creative aspect to the business and ultimately service in multiple capacities.
Tell us about your business and what makes you unique in your field.

We are different in the aspect that we’re a one stop shop for your business needs. Unlike our competitors, we have a team in place that all functions in their area of expertise. What do you feel makes your audience special?
Our audience values hard work and time. If time doesn’t make them money, they move on to the next initiative. It’s so important to prioritize your biggest value – time or money – and make adjustments as required.
If you could magically give all of your community members one thing in this world, what would it be, and why?
Time. I think that is just sometimes the biggest thing that holds us back as business owners. Its also a good reason why we starting SendMe Tasks… and something we strive to provide our clients as they learn to delegate and trust us with the inner workings of their business.
Has anything surprised you about starting a website?
Nope. I have personally built numerous sites and knew the challenges that we were going to face – from concept to integrations.
Did you create your own website or hire it out? Do you use WordPress?
We have a developer on our team that is creating us a new site, but I developed our current site. The new one is with WordPress.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting their own business?
Go for it. You have to have the drive to fail. If don’t expect failure, you will never grow.
If you could go back in time and do something differently, what would you do and why?
Start my business earlier. I partly wish I was earlier ahead in the process, but I also value the lessons that I have learned.
Do you have an email list? If so, did you start it when you launched?
Yes we have one. No we did not start it when we launched.
Is this your only job? Did you launch your business while working another job?
I’ve always had multiple streams of income but I quit my main income stream when I started my business and jumped in head first.
How do you promote your site?
Word of mouth, social media, bookings, etc.
Who are your favorite bloggers or podcasts right now?
Anything with Jeremiah Krakowski.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Learn to fail. Some of my biggest accomplishments have been out of a failure or a learning experience. If you stop learning, you stop growing. Also be humble – no one wants to refer business to someone who is unapproachable.
